Build It

Build a toad house

Toads like to hang out in cool moist places that can be hard to find in dry hot weather.  Why not make them a nice spot to call home right in your yard?  All you need a few simple things you can find around your house or cottage.

What you’ll need:
-    sheet of newspaper
-    a plastic flowerpot (it’s fine if it’s chipped or cracked)
-    pair of heavy-duty scissors (ask an adult for help)
-    permanent marker
-    fist-sized rock
-    pebbles or other outdoor friendly to decorate your pot (optional)

How to use it:
Take the flowerpot and rock outside and place the pot upside down in a cool, shaded spot where it won’t be disturbed.  Pile loose dirt around the pot making sure to leave the doorway open.  Place the rock on top of the pot to hold it down year-round.
